Convert NatWest statements to Excel or CSV
NatWest only lets you download recent transactions as CSV, so any older month means working from the PDF statement. Each statement has a single transaction table with paid in and withdrawn in separate columns, and BankConv converts it to Excel, CSV or Google Sheets row for row. Watch the brought forward line on each page and the year on early-January dates.

What to know about NatWest PDFs
- Paid in and withdrawn are separate
- NatWest statements usually show credits under Paid In and debits under Withdrawn, with no minus signs. Keep both columns, or create one signed amount in your spreadsheet before importing.
- Brought forward lines on each page
- Pages often start with a BROUGHT FORWARD balance. It isn't a transaction, so leave it out when you total the columns.
- Dates without a year
- Transaction dates are usually printed as day and short month. The year comes from the statement period, so check rows on a statement that runs across 1 January.
Converting NatWest statements
NatWest statements are usually text-based PDFs with one transaction table, so in most cases they come through row for row. Check the brought forward lines and the year on early-January rows.
- Download the monthly PDFs from Statements in online banking.
- Upload them to BankConv.
- Check the rows, then export Excel, CSV or Google Sheets.
What to check before you import
The statement summary gives you everything you need to confirm the result.
- Total Paid in and Withdrawn, excluding brought forward lines, and compare with the summary.
- Confirm the last balance matches the closing balance.
- Check the year on any December or January rows.
UK dates are day first, so make sure your software reads 03/04 as 3 April. For Xero, see how to import a bank statement into Xero.
Business account statements usually follow the same layout. If clients also bank with Lloyds or Barclays, the same checks apply. Files are deleted after 24 hours; see security.

NatWest statement questions
Can I download NatWest transactions as CSV?
Usually yes, for recent transactions, from online banking on a computer. For past months you get PDF statements, which BankConv converts to CSV or Excel.
Does this work for Royal Bank of Scotland statements?
RBS is part of NatWest Group and its statements are often similar. BankConv reads the table on the page, so they convert the same way.
Do I need to give BankConv my NatWest login?
No. You download the PDF yourself and upload it. BankConv never connects to your bank and never asks for your banking password.
