Do you need to convert at all?
Canara net banking can usually show an account statement for a date range and download it as PDF, and often as Excel. For a recent period from your own login, that may be enough.
E-statements and statements requested through the app usually arrive by email as PDFs. PDFs from clients, older saved statements and branch-printed statements need converting.

What to know about Canara Bank PDFs
- Extra Branch Code column
- Many Canara statements print a Branch Code next to each transaction, alongside Txn Date, Value Date, Cheque No., Description, Debit, Credit and Balance. It's useful for audits but most accounting software ignores it, so drop it before you import.
- Narrations wrap over several lines
- UPI, NEFT and IMPS descriptions on Canara statements often run over two or three lines. Each should stay in one row after converting. Count a page of rows against the PDF to confirm nothing split.
- Opening balance line
- The first line is usually an opening balance with no debit or credit. Keep it for your balance check, then delete it before importing so your software doesn't book it as a transaction.
