Where MoneyThumb is stronger

MoneyThumb has built file converters for accounting software since 2015, and its range is wide. There are separate converters for each target: pdf2qbo, pdf2qfx, pdf2ofx, pdf2qif and pdf2csv, plus converters between formats such as csv2qbo or qfx2qbo.

That matters for QuickBooks Desktop and Quicken. Those programs import QBO and QFX files with the bank and account details built in, which CSV can’t do. MoneyThumb says its .qbo files import into QuickBooks Online editions other than Self Employed and into QuickBooks Desktop 2023 to 2025. It also advertises automatic balancing and payee cleanup, reads credit card statements, and offers unlimited users on its Standard and Pro plans.

MoneyThumb also sells lending products, such as PDF Insights and Thumbprint fraud detection, which BankConv doesn’t compete with.

Where BankConv is different

BankConv converts PDF bank statements to spreadsheets, and prices by page instead of by statement.

A month of work BankConv MoneyThumb Online
1 statement, 4 pages $2.99 pay per document $24.95 (Individual, 5 conversions)
20 statements, 5 pages each (100 pages) $29 Starter, or $19 billed yearly $49.95 Standard (20 conversions)
60 statements, 8 pages each (480 pages) $29 Starter, or $19 billed yearly $99.95 Pro (60 conversions)
60 statements, 30 pages each (1,800 pages) $79 Business, or $49 billed yearly $99.95 Pro (60 conversions)

MoneyThumb’s annual Pro plan works out at $1.00 a statement, which is good value for very long statements. Below that, page pricing is usually cheaper. Prices were checked on October 11, 2026; confirm both before you buy.

There is no software to install for BankConv. The first 5 pages convert free without an account. Files and outputs are deleted after 24 hours, and BankConv never connects to a bank account. See security.

Getting BankConv output into accounting software

Most accounting tools import a CSV with date, description and amount, so a spreadsheet is often all you need.

  1. Convert the statement and download CSV.
  2. In QuickBooks Online, use Upload from file. The QuickBooks guide covers the column mapping.
  3. For Xero, follow how to import a bank statement into Xero.
  4. If your software only takes OFX, such as MYOB, download OFX instead of CSV.
A BankConv CSV maps to Date, Description and Amount in QuickBooks Online.

Before importing, check that the row count and closing balance match the statement. Compare costs for your real volume on the pricing page.

Questions people ask

Is BankConv cheaper than MoneyThumb?

For most volumes, yes. Twenty 5-page statements a month is 100 pages: $29 on BankConv's Starter plan versus $49.95 on MoneyThumb's Standard plan. MoneyThumb counts statements rather than pages, so very long statements narrow the gap.

Can BankConv make QBO files like PDF2QBO?

Yes. BankConv converts PDF statements to QBO (Web Connect) files for QuickBooks Desktop and Online, with the bank ID QuickBooks lists for the bank, as well as Excel, CSV, Google Sheets, OFX and QFX.

Can I get an OFX file from BankConv?

Yes. Convert the PDF statement and download OFX, which suits software such as Xero, Sage or MYOB, or QFX for Quicken.

Does MoneyThumb convert credit card statements?

Yes, MoneyThumb lists bank and credit card PDF statements. BankConv converts both too, and writes card statements as credit card accounts in OFX, QFX and QBO files.

What is a MoneyThumb conversion?

MoneyThumb counts each monthly statement processed as one conversion. Unused conversions roll over when the subscription renews, and reconverting the same file doesn't use another.
